PGCB Fines Three Operators for Online Gambling Violations
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently announced that it has taken action against three gaming operators by imposing fines totaling $282,205. Additionally, the board has included several individuals on its involuntary self-exclusion list in an effort to enforce gambling regulations in the state.
BetMGM Faces Hefty Fine for Self-Exclusion Violations
One of the operators, BetMGM, was hit with the largest fine of $260,905 for allowing 152 instances of self-excluded individuals to gamble online. This blatant disregard for the state’s gambling laws led to this significant penalty being imposed on the operator.
Aside from BetMGM, Rush Street Gaming and Stadium Casino Westmoreland also faced fines for violations of gaming regulations. Rush Street Gaming was penalized $13,800 for failing to file a principal license renewal application for its chief financial officer, while Stadium Casino Westmoreland received a $7,500 fine for using revoked software on 11 of its slot machines.
PGCB Takes Action Against Irresponsible Gamblers
In addition to imposing fines on operators, the PGCB also added nine individuals to its involuntary self-exclusion list. Among them were four adults who left children unattended while gambling at various properties in the state.
One such case involved a male casino patron who left a 12-year-old unattended in a vehicle at Live! Casino Philadelphia while gambling. The individual was also cited for cheating and trespassing by the PGCB. Another incident involved an adult woman who left a child unattended in the bus lobby of Mount Airy Casino Resort while playing slots.
The PGCB emphasized that leaving minors unattended is strictly prohibited in gambling establishments, and violators risk being placed on the involuntary exclusion list. Since its inception, the PGCB has placed 1,280 individuals on its casino involuntary exclusion list and 62 individuals on the iGaming exclusion list.
